It's about 180 km (120 miles) from the Calgary International airport to the Chateau Lake Louise. You can rent a car at the airport and drive; it is about a three hour drive.

From Calgary International Airport:

  • Take the only exit road leaving the Airport
  • Continue to follow this road, it will become Barlow Trail
  • Take Barlow Trail South to 16th Avenue
  • Go west (right) onto 16th Avenue
  • 16th Avenue becomes TransCanada Highway 1, which  takes you straight through to Banff (45 - 60 minute drive)
  • In Banff National Park, follow the signs for the town of Lake Louise, continuing on the TransCanada Highway
  • Forty minutes past the Town of Banff, take the turn off marked for Lake Louise
  • Turn left at the intersection and proceed straight on this road (4 km, 2.4 miles)
  • This will take you directly to the front doors of the hotel
  • Rocky Mountain Sky Shuttle operates a shuttle between the Calgary Airport and the Chateau Lake Louise. This shuttle leaves the Calgary Airport every two hours from 10 AM through 8 PM (and there is a final van leaving at midnight). They leave the Chateau Lake Louise every two hours from 5 AM to 7PM.

They are extending a ten percent discount to SOSP attendees ( $45 Canadian one way and $86.40 Canadian both ways. These prices include taxes.); just tell them when you reserve that you're attending SOSP. They will need a credit card number to take your reservation.

You should book with them in advance. Even though they run a regular schedule, given the number of us who may be using them, they may not have the capacity to take you in the shuttle that leaves closest after you arrive. You can call them at (888) 762-8754 or (403) 762-5200, send them a fax at (403) 762-1090, or e-mail them at
